What makes me an effective leader?
Are great leaders born naturally or do they need to take an effort to grow into effective leadership?
Several scientists have shown that adults can continue to grow and develop throughout their life, adopting new ways of relating to themselves and the world and becoming better leaders. According to Bob Kegan, we move from an ego-centric mind in adolescence to a socialized mind, where we define our self-worth from success, knowledge, and belonging. Only 35% of adults grow beyond this stage and develop a self-authoring mind. We then configure a self from within - from knowing ourselves, our values and purpose, and co-creating success with others. In today’s complex world, a more sophisticated mind makes us a more effective leader.
